Event Details:Virginia Africana is a network of museum and preservation professionals, local historians and those interested in African American history. The theme for the 2017 conference is Tools of the Trade and focuses on interpretation. Join experts in the field for a fascinating exploration of successes and failures in interpreting African American history. John W. Franklin, of Director of Partnerships and International Programs at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of African American History and Culture will present on what the staff of the Smithsonian’s newest museum have learned during their first year.
