To commemorate the 250th anniversary of organized firefighting in the City of Alexandria and the surrounding region, the Friendship Veterans Fire Engine Association is hosting a one-day symposium on the 15th of September, 2024. The symposium will be held at the George Washington Masonic Memorial on Shooter's Hill at the top of King Street.

The Alexandria Community Remembrance Project will debut a documentary film titled Resolved: Never Again that brings a fresh perspective to the history of the United States. In Resolved: Never Again, filmmaker Robin Hamilton explores the port city’s involvement in slavery and the domestic slave trade until the Civil War.
