Former Friends, lecture by Dr. Peter Henriques

Title:Former Friends, lecture by Dr. Peter Henriques
Date & Time:Wed Feb 6, 2013 7:30 PM - 8:30 PM
Location:Gadsby's Tavern Museum, 134 N. Royal St. (Map This)
Event Details:Despite his unrivaled popularity, George Washington ultimately made a complete break with three fellow Virginians, George Mason, Thomas Jefferson, and James Madison - all very impressive figures in their own right, and the first three men were mentors to the President in one fashion or another. The talk by Dr. Peter Henriques will focus on Washington's relationship with each man and why he decided to break with them. While each story is somewhat different, a close examination shows that there was a fundamental factor in all of them, which reveals an interesting aspect of Washington's personality.
