Building Safety Month 2021
The City of Alexandria invites the public to celebrate building safety, recognize the code professionals who help keep us safe, and receive free training at the City’s annual Building Safety Month Virtual Kick-Off event on May 14, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. This year’s theme is “Prevent, Prepare, Protect.”
The free event will include “2018 International Energy Conservation Code - Residential Provisions Simplified,” a training presented by Shaunna Monzingo, International Code Council instructor. This training is primarily intended for building professionals interested in learning about the 2018 IECC Code design requirements once it is adopted by the Virginia General Assembly in July. Code cycles take three years to develop before the General Assembly adopts them into the Uniform Statewide Building Code. Architects, developers, code administration plan reviewers and municipal and private inspectors are encouraged to participate.
Participants who complete the training will receive .6 hours of continuing education credit. Registration is required to attend the training session. RSVP to Penny.Gausman@alexandriava.gov by May 7, 2021.
