Friends of Fort Ward bus tour on "The John Wilkes Booth Escape Route," Pre-registration required. Tour guide David Heiby will trace the movements of Booth's escape from Ford's Theatre following his assassination of President Abraham Lincoln on April 14, 1865. The tour will visit sites in D.C. and southern Maryland, such as Mary Surratt's Boarding House, Surratt's Tavern, Dr. Samuel Mudd's House, and Pope's Creek. A Civil War commemorative event.
