Buried Ships of Robinson Landing Exhibit

Title:Buried Ships of Robinson Landing Exhibit
Date & Time:Fri Jul 26, 2024 4:30 PM - 7:00 PM
Location:Robinson Terminal South (Map This)
City of Alexandria waterfront
Event Details:Join us for the display of a unique pop-up exhibit! Step inside the temporary Buried Ships of Robinson Landing windowfront exhibit, located at the corner of the Strand and Pioneer Mill Way, for a special chance to see scale models of three 18th century vessel remnants excavated in 2018 on the same block. Talk with an archaeologist and learn how these ships were used to create new land along the waterfront.

Through an exciting partnership with the Robinson Landing Property Owners Association, Alexandria Archaeology has the unique opportunity to shine a light on this site’s history. Archaeologists use these digital and physical models to compare ship construction and to answer questions about the age and use of the vessels.
"We are excited to present the 'Buried Ships of Robinson Landing' exhibit to the community," said Eleanor Breen, City Archaeologist.
