Location:Virtual Only Event, Meeting or Activity
Meetings, events or activities that will be held exclusively online or via telephone conference.
Event Details:Join Dr. Lindsay M. Chervinsky, presidential historian and author of The Cabinet: George Washington and the Creation of an American Institution, to learn about George Washington's complicated relationship with France after the Revolutionary War. Initially, Washington welcomed news of the French Revolution as the natural successor to the American Declaration of Independence. But as the French Revolution devolved into widespread violence, Washington sought to distance himself from his former ally. Dr. Chervinsky will reveal how France, and the complex details of the Franco-American alliance, shaped Washington's presidency and dominated the 1790s.
