Building Safety Month Kick-Off

Building Safety Month is an annual public awareness campaign to help residents and businesses understand what it takes to create safe and sustainable structures. The event focuses on promoting building safety and the businesses and organizations involved in maintaining building safety throughout the city.

Event Details:The City of Alexandria's Code Administration Department is celebrating Building Safety Month with a free Kick-Off Event on May 2, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m., in Market Square (301 King Street).

Before the main event, HILTI is hosting the first of two free training sessions beginning at 10 a.m. "Fire Stopping Techniques Utilized in Construction.” After the kick-off event, Simpson Strong-Tie is hosting "Deck Safety at Home" at 1 p.m. The training sessions will provide a total of 2 hours of Continuing Education Units (CEUs). Complimentary coffee beverages and light snacks will be provided to course participants beginning at 9:30 a.m. in the Chet and Sabra Avery conference room (Room 2000) at City Hall.
