 ity for Alexandria residents and individuals who work in the city to lear
 n various aspects of policing.  This includes administrative philosophies
 \, internal policies\, and the guiding principles of law and ethical cond
 uct governing the delivery of police services. Sessions are a combination
  of lectures and interactive activities. Class topics include patrol oper
 ations\, gangs\, crime prevention\, crime scene investigations\, criminal
  investigations\, and more.\n\nRegistration closes August 31.\n\nWHEN: Cl
 asses begin on Wednesday\, September 23\, 2026\, and will end with a grad
 uation ceremony on Wednesday\, November 18\, 2026.   Sessions are on Wedn
 esday evenings from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Due to the holiday on November
  11\, that class will be moved to Tuesday\, November 10. \n\nWHERE: Polic
 e Department Headquarters at 3600 Wheeler Avenue\, Alexandria\, VA 22304 
 \n\nWHAT: The curriculum covers the core elements that are essential for 
 participants to gain a greater understanding of police operations.  As a 
 result of their participation\, residents can make more informed judgment
 s about the Alexandria Police Department and its daily operations. The Po
 lice Department is simultaneously able to acquire a greater understanding
  of the views and concerns of the community through an enhanced relations
 hip with the public.\n\nThe program is offered FREE of charge.  Participa
 nts must be at least 21 years of age and live or work in the City of Alex
 andria. Criminal history checks will be conducted on all applicants for f
