Celebrate Armed Forces Day on May 16, 2026 by enjoying a special outdoor concert of Civil War-era music on the lawn of Fort Ward Museum. The 8th Green Machine Regiment Band, a historical ensemble sponsored by George Mason University, will perform a variety of popular songs of the Civil War on authentic 19th-century instruments.

The 16th Annual D-Day Commemoration will take place on Sunday, May 31, 2026 at John Carlyle Square. This free, family-friendly event will bring the spirit of the 1940s to life with World War II reenactors and historical displays, Live 1940s jazz music and swing dancing, Children’s activities and educational exhibits, and a commemorative ceremony.
