 tories?" Learn about the society that gave rise to the Vikings and explor
 e new research about the early years of the Viking raids. Jennifer Paxton
  teaches the history of the British Isles and Ireland at the Catholic Uni
 versity of America\, where she is currently the director of the Universit
 y Honors Program. She earned her B.A. in history at Yale and her Ph.D. in
  medieval history at Harvard\, where she also did course work in the Depa
 rtment of Celtic Languages and Literatures. \n\nWine and dessert receptio
