 zed firefighting in the City of Alexandria and the surrounding region\, t
 he Friendship Veterans Fire Engine Association is hosting a one-day sympo
 sium on the 15th of September\, 2024. The symposium will be held at the G
 eorge Washington Masonic Memorial on Shooter's Hill at the top of King St
 reet. \n\nThe symposium will consist of three panels\, each of which will
  have two or more presenters offering presentations of no more than twent
 y minutes each on topics related to the history of firefighting in Alexan
 dria and environs\, historical or notable emergencies to which first resp
 onders were called to action\, and the evolution of best firefighting pra
 ctices over the past 250 years. Each panel will conclude with questions a
 nd comments from the audience. \n\nThe event is open to the public withou
 t charge. Prior registration is requested. To register\, contact Jim McCl
