 s the 150th Anniversary of the City of Alexandria Fire Department.\n\nHel
 d at the historic Friendship Firehouse\, the festival celebrates the spec
 ial role firefighters have played throughout history\, especially those o
 f Friendship. The event will feature a collection of antique fire equipme
 nt and\, courtesy of the Alexandria Fire Department\, a display of modern
  fire trucks and apparatus. The Alexandria Red Cross and the Community Em
 ergency Response Team will also be on hand. Other attractions include cra
 ft booths\, food vendors and free birthday cake which will be served at 1
 1 a.m.  \n\nIn addition to the day's outdoor events\, festival participan
 ts will be able to experience the history of the Fire Company through a t
 our of the Friendship Firehouse Museum.  The building was originally buil
 t as a firehouse in 1855\, remodeled in 1871 and restored again in 1992 b
 efore undergoing roof and cupola repairs several years ago. There will be
   a variety of exhibitors of interest to all ages\, food and drinks\, plu
 s the firehouse museum will be open for all to see and appreciate our for
 efathers efforts to protect Alexandria from fire in the 18th century. Be 
 sure to see the old hose reel\, as well as the suction pumper fire engine
 \, both pulled by hand.  Upstairs in the firehouse is the formal meeting 
 room where business of the historic fire company was conducted.\n\nNow a 
 philanthropic organization focusing on fire and life safety\, the Friends
 hip Veterans Fire Engine Association remains active in community events\,
  including this year's Festival\, which marks the 242nd anniversary of th
