Event Details:The Alexandria Historical Society and the Office of Historic Alexandria present Dr. Zachary M. Schrag’s Thinking Big: Lessons from the Washington Metro. Put the frustrations of your Metro commute into historical context as Dr. Shrag shares his insight into the history and future of the Washington Metro system.

Zachary M. Schrag, Professor of History at George Mason University, authored The Great Society Subway: A History of the Washington Metro. His book explores the political, cultural, and logistical challenges of creating a major subway system in a metropolitan area already dominated by the automobile.

Doors open at 7 p.m. and the program begins at 7:30 p.m.
