Event Details:Come get into the spirit of the Chinese New Year by celebrating the year of the Pig with the Fairfax Chinese Dance Troupe at First Friday: “Chinese New Year Celebration” sponsored by the Office of the Arts on February 16, 2019 from 6 p.m. – 10 p.m., the Durant Arts Center,1605 Cameron St.

The evening will include the Fairfax Chinese Dance Troupe dancing several traditional Chinese Folk Dances accompanied by Alice Guzheng Ensemble, Mr. Zhang on a traditional instrument called hulusi, and a vocalist Mr. Lin. A Chinese Kungfu, Martial Arts demonstration and the City’s Mobile Art Lab leading interactive art activity will round off the evening’s festivities. There will be definitely something for every member of your family. Plan to come in traditional Chinese outfits and experience China in Alexandria!

A “meet and greet” begins at 6 p.m. Light refreshments will be on hand, complements of the Office of the Arts. Festivities begin at 6:30 p.m.

The “Chinese New Year Celebration” is part of the “First Fridays” Series. The Series is a project of the Office of the Arts, a division of the Alexandria Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Activities.
