Couple of comments here I don't understand. The idea that an open air space won't work in this area doesn't make sense. We have multiple open air spaces in the DC area that are thriving. To suggest that an upscale design and look won't work either is silly as well. There's a lot of demand for such areas, and the area is way behind in meeting that demand. In part, it's the reason that prices get ridiculously out of hand in some spots. The local community isn't as poor as some comments would have you believe either. The area suffers from being old and rundown. The Asian, Ethiopian, and Latin communities are well off... and it would be great if Landmark could become the first cultural mall in the area... one where we feature an array of international cuisine in one spot. I do think that adding a cinema will be overkill given the new multiplex being constructed down the road at Springfield... and alas, the traffic will get worse, which is why we have to think about adding a more robust transportation system in this area (and I don't mean the dingy bus routes that they're currently building). They need a sky tram that connects with other key areas. The "I love a clear view of the sky" people will have a cow over that one.
