 ay on April 27 from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.\n\nAs part of the Drug Enforcement Ag
 ency's National Drug Take Back Day\, the Alexandria Police Department\, Al
 exandria Sheriff's Office\, and Alexandria Health Department\, with cooper
 ation from the Substance Abuse Prevention Coalition of Alexandria\, are st
 affing multiple drop-off locations for safe medication disposal.\n\nDrop o
 ff unused or expired medication at Fire Station 210 from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00
  p.m. No needles are accepted at this site.\n\nCan't make it to Drug Take 
 Back Day?  Dispose of medications year-round at one of these permanent dru

  susceptible to diversion\, misuse and abuse. Studies show that the majori
 ty of misused prescription drugs are obtained from family and friends\, in
 cluding from home medicine cabinets. In addition\, many Americans do not k
 now how to properly dispose of unused medication\, often flushing it down 
 the toilet or throwing it away - both potential safety and health hazards.
 \n\nDrug take back days and permanent drop boxes also support the goals of
  the Eco-City Alexandria initiative to promote a place where people can li
 ve healthier and economically productive lives\, while reducing their impa
