 morial Brick Walkway was the vision of the Alexandria African American Hal
 l of Fame. The walkway recognizes the 100th anniversary of Parker-Gray Hig
 h School which opened to students on September 10\, 1920. The walkway\, wh
 ich consists of the Parker-Gray Bulldog mascot and engraved bricks to hono
 r teachers\, students\, individuals\, families\, houses of worship and the
  greater community\, is located at the main entrance of the Charles Housto
 n Recreation Center (900 Wythe St.) the original site of the Parker-Gray s
 chool. The school opened in September 1920 at the site of the current recr
 eation center and provided African American children with comprehensive ed
 ucation at a time when segregation and lack of resources\, teachers\, and 
 facilities threatened what is now understood as a fundamental right of eve
 ry child. \n\nThe event will occur on-site at the Wythe St. entrance and w
 ill be simulcast virtually on livestream. Onsite participation will be lim
 ited to ensure compliance with all safety guidance. The event will occur r
