Traditional A frican attire is encouraged. \n\nAfrica FEST is held in collaboration with the African Union Mission to the United States of America\, the Pan-Afric an Diaspora Women Association and Youth Association and Smithsonian Nation al Museum of African Art.\n\nSeveral African embassies will be represented . Ambassadors and dignitaries will participate in ceremonies and embassy s taff will host cultural displays and activities.\n\nNigerian-American sing er/songwriter Janeliasoul will be the mistress of ceremonies for the follo wing scheduled activities:\n\n? Noon - Official welcome and traditional Et hiopian coffee ceremony with elected officials\, dignitaries and special g uests\, which celebrates the Ethiopian New Year on September 12. \n? 12:30 p.m. - Ni Dembaya West African Drum and Dance Company leads the parade of nations showcasing 55 African flags to symbolize the unity and pride of t he continent\n? 1:30 p.m. - VUSA: Voices from Southern Africa performs a c appella choral selections from South Africa and other southern African nat ions\n? 2:30 p.m. - Chosen Generation\, an African dance youth group\, per forms dances from Cameroon\n? 3:30 p.m. - Ethio Dankira performs tradition al music from Ethiopia and Eritrea\n? 4:30 p.m. - Janeliasoul performs Nig erian soul and Afrobeat music\n? 5 p.m. - Closing remarks\n\nHands-on acti vities will take place throughout the afternoon.
