The 2022 application process is an annual competitive process t o become a Resident Artist at the Art Center. This year's applicants are scored by four highlight qualified jurors.\n\nThe Phases\nPhase I consider ed artistic merit and was judged blind\, with jurors only viewing the art. Jurors looked for deliberately crafted artwork with an authentic and orig inal point of view that reflects an awareness of current trends and aesthe tics in the larger art world. It was worth a maximum 50 points. Applicants needed 33 points to advance.\nPhase II was non-blind and considers applic ants' backgrounds. Jurors looked for artists who can explain their art and who want to engage and interact with the public through their work. They reviewed applicants' career highlights and how they have marketed themselv es or their work. It was worth a maximum of 25 points. Applicants needed a combined 50 points from Phases I and II to advance.\nPhase III gives the jurors an opportunity to meet and interact with the applicants. This is th e first time jurors are seeing the art work in-person to review it for qua lity. Jurors will consider the applicants' ability to communicate about th eir artwork\, with an eye toward their desire to positively engage with th e public. It is worth a maximum of 25 points.
