 andria Sheriff's Office\, and Alexandria Health Department\, with cooperat
 ion from the Substance Abuse Prevention Coalition of Alexandria\, are staf
 fing multiple drop-off locations for safe medication disposal.\n\nDrop off
  unused or expired medication at the First Baptist Church Parking Lot from
  10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. No needles are accepted at this site.\n\nCan't mak

 s are highly susceptible to diversion\, misuse and abuse. Studies show tha
 t the majority of misused prescription drugs are obtained from family and 
 friends\, including from home medicine cabinets. In addition\, many Americ
 ans do not know how to properly dispose of unused medication\, often flush
 ing it down the toilet or throwing it away - both potential safety and hea
 lth hazards.\n\nDrug take back days and permanent drop boxes also support 
 the goals of the Eco-City Alexandria initiative to promote a place where p
 eople can live healthier and economically productive lives\, while reducin
 g their impact on the environment.\n\nThe service is free and anonymous\;
