 n April 27 from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.\n\nAs part of the Drug Enforcement Agency
 's National Drug Take Back Day\, the Alexandria Police Department\, Alexan
 dria Sheriff's Office\, and Alexandria Health Department\, with cooperatio
 n from the Substance Abuse Prevention Coalition of Alexandria\, are staffi
 ng multiple drop-off locations for safe medication disposal.\n\nDrop off u
 nused or expired medication at Fire Station 210 from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m
 . No needles are accepted at this site.\n\nCan't make it to Drug Take Back
  Day?  Dispose of medications year-round at one of these permanent drug dr

 e addresses a vital public safety and public health issue. Many Americans 
 are not aware that medicines that languish in home cabinets are highly sus
 ceptible to diversion\, misuse and abuse. Studies show that the majority o
 f misused prescription drugs are obtained from family and friends\, includ
 ing from home medicine cabinets. In addition\, many Americans do not know 
 how to properly dispose of unused medication\, often flushing it down the 
 toilet or throwing it away - both potential safety and health hazards.\n\n
 Drug take back days and permanent drop boxes also support the goals of the
  Eco-City Alexandria initiative to promote a place where people can live h
 ealthier and economically productive lives\, while reducing their impact o
