In this recent book\, When the United States Spoke French: Five Refugees Who Shaped a Nation Furstenberg tells the fasc inating story of five influential French emigres to the fledgling United States\, including the notorious Talleyrand\, who held posts in the French government both before and after the revolution. \n\nThe Alexandria-Caen Sister City Committee is a volunteer committee promoting educational and c ultural exchange between the city of Caen in Normandy\, France and the cit y of Alexandria. In addition to hosting a lecture series\, the committee a lso coordinates activities commemorating the anniversary of D-Day\, studen t and intern exchange programs.
