DESCRIPTION:Held in the historic ballroom of Gadsby's Tavern\, this springt
 ime ball for the advanced dancer is set in the 1790s and is inspired by a 
 ball George Washington attended and recalled in this 1760 diary entry:\n"W
 ent to a Ball at Alexandria - where Musick and Dancing was the chief Enter
 tainment.  However in a convenient Room detachd for the purpose abounded g
 reat plenty of Bread and Butter\, some Biscuets with Tea\, & Coffee which 
 the Drinkers of could not Distinguish from Hot water sweetned.  Be it reme
 mbered that pocket handkerchiefs servd the purposes of Table Cloths & Napk
 ins and that no Apologies were made for either. I shall therefore distingu
 ish this Ball by the Stile & title of the Bread & Butter Ball."\n\nSo plea

 "gaming" and a cash bar. Period costume encouraged.
