DESCRIPTION:Illustrated lecture: The Story of the Freedmen Cemetery Memoria
 l Bas-Reliefs. Sculptor Joanna Blake will discuss her work which includes 
 the two relief panels honoring those buried at the Alexandria's Contraband
 s and Freedmen Cemetery Memorial and an eight by ten foot bronze sculpture
  commemorating the two-hundredth anniversary of the Battle of Bladensburg 
 in the War of 1812. Her design for the Virginia Women's Monument in Richmo
 nd was selected as a semifinalist in a competition to commemorate the stru
 ggles and accomplishments of Virginia's women throughout the state's histo
 ry.
