DESCRIPTION:Celebrating Recovery\, Creativity and Mental Health. "Art Uniti
 ng People" seeks to engage the City of Alexandria community in an ongoing 
 conversation about each person's uniqueness and the commonality we all sha
 re as part of an effort to raise awareness about the stigma faced by those
  with mental illness\, substance use disorders and intellectual and develo
 pmental disabilities. That stigma is the largest barrier to seeking and ge
 tting help\, the biggest deterrent to recovery.  Recovery is based on resp
 ect which means that the family\, the community and society accepts and ap
 preciates the people affected.
