 rch into a rare photograph of enslaved people reveals how the Civil War im
 pacted three groups of people on a property then known as Volusia and toda
 y known as Foxchase.\n\nDuring the first years of the Civil War\, Volusia\
 , then located just outside Alexandria\, was home to a family of slave own
 ers loyal to the Union\, hundreds of Union soldiers encamped on the ground
 s for months at a time\, and nearly a dozen enslaved African Americans who
  served their owners and soldiers alike before finding freedom. Former His
 toric Alexandria staff member Amy Bertsch will share their stories and dis
 cuss the sources that she consulted in researching this important part of 
 West End history.\n\nAdmission is free\, and seating is on a first-come\, 
 first-served basis. There will be a short period for questions and light r
 efreshments afterward.\n \nThis program is part of a series of events on t
