 cy's National Drug Take Back Day\, the Alexandria Police Department\, Alex
 andria Sheriff's Office\, and Alexandria Health Department\, with cooperat
 ion from the Substance Abuse Prevention Coalition of Alexandria\, are staf
 fing multiple drop-off locations for safe medication disposal.\n\nDrop off
  unused or expired medication at the Neighborhood Pharmacy of Del Ray from
  10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. No needles are accepted at this site.\n\nCan't mak

 ow that the majority of misused prescription drugs are obtained from famil
 y and friends\, including from home medicine cabinets. In addition\, many 
 Americans do not know how to properly dispose of unused medication\, often
  flushing it down the toilet or throwing it away - both potential safety a
 nd health hazards.\n\nDrug take back days and permanent drop boxes also su
 pport the goals of the Eco-City Alexandria initiative to promote a place w
 here people can live healthier and economically productive lives\, while r
