The 2022 application process is an annual competitive process to be come a Resident Artist at the Art Center. This year's applicants are scor ed by four highlight qualified jurors.\n\nThe Phases\nPhase I considered a rtistic merit and was judged blind\, with jurors only viewing the art. Jur ors looked for deliberately crafted artwork with an authentic and original point of view that reflects an awareness of current trends and aesthetics in the larger art world. It was worth a maximum 50 points. Applicants nee ded 33 points to advance.\nPhase II was non-blind and considers applicants ' backgrounds. Jurors looked for artists who can explain their art and who want to engage and interact with the public through their work. They revi ewed applicants' career highlights and how they have marketed themselves o r their work. It was worth a maximum of 25 points. Applicants needed a com bined 50 points from Phases I and II to advance.\nPhase III gives the juro rs an opportunity to meet and interact with the applicants. This is the fi rst time jurors are seeing the art work in-person to review it for quality . Jurors will consider the applicants' ability to communicate about their artwork\, with an eye toward their desire to positively engage with the pu blic. It is worth a maximum of 25 points. Presentations will be open to th e public.\nThis year 50 applications moved forward to Phase III. Presenta tions to jurors by applicants is open to the public.\n\nWednesday June 15\ , 7 - 10 PM: Presentations by 17 applicants. Each applicant presents for five minutes with ability for jurors to ask questions. Each applicant sh ares a presentation via slide show and each artist shares two in-person ar tworks.
