DESCRIPTION:While OHA intended to leverage a popular annual museum program 
 to share elements of Alexandria's African American history\, residents hav
 e raised concerns about the event being perceived as disrespectful. Disres
 pect was never our intent and we have canceled the event. OHA strives to c
 reate historical programs that are uplifting and done through a lens of eq
 uity. Unfortunately\, we failed to do so with this event. We are very prou
 d of our African American history and always want to improve the visitor e
 xperience. We appreciate those community members letting us know their con
 cerns.

 leverage a popular annual museum program to share elements of Alexandria's
  African American history\, residents have raised concerns about the event
  being perceived as disrespectful. Disrespect was never our intent and we 
 have canceled the event. OHA strives to create historical programs that ar
 e uplifting and done through a lens of equity. Unfortunately\, we failed t
 o do so with this event. We are very proud of our African American history
  and always want to improve the visitor experience. We appreciate those co
 mmunity members letting us know their concerns.\n\nThis scavenger hunt is 
 created especially for children ages 9-13\, but open to all who have read 
 the full Harry Potter series. The scavenger hunt can be completed electron
 ically in Survey Monkey or by printing a PDF .  This year - if you turn in
  your electronic version or completed paper copy to the Alexandria History
  Museum at the Lyceum by August 7\, you will be entered into a drawing\, w
 ith five random winners selected. All local history trivia answers can be 
 found online with relevant keyword searches in your preferred search engin
 e.\n\nThis is a free activity however donations are welcome. Historic Alex
 andria does receive City operational funding to support its mission\; howe
 ver\, these resources do not cover the full scope of its strategic goals a
 nd projects. Donations\, program revenue\, and grant funding help suppleme
 nt staff\, conservation work\, and educational programs. Admission and ren
 tal fees also support these efforts\, as well as contribute to the City's
