DESCRIPTION:The Office of the Arts in collaboration with the National Capit
 al Puppetry Guild\, a 501(c) 3 nonprofit charitable organization\, are hos
 ting a series of monthly family-friendly puppet shows at the Durant Arts C

 er 22\, 2018\, we are proud to present "Silly Goose and Val." The puppet s
 how series is designed for all ages and young children and toddlers are we
 lcome. Two shows will be offered 10 a.m. and 11:15 a.m. \n\nValerie Leonha
 rt Smalkin\, ventriloquist\, musician\, composer\, and performer was one o
 f the writers\, performers\, and co-producers as well as the head puppetee
 r of the Emmy award winning television program It's Kindertime on Baltimor
 e's ABC affiliate WMAR-TV 2. Val's CD\, A Gentle Halloween\, received a Pa
 rents' Choice Fun Stuff award in 2015\, and in 2016 her follow-up CD\, Sin
 g! Sing! Sing...and Dance! garnered a Parents' Choice Approved award. Her 
 current CD\, Love Bug! received a Parents' Choice Recommended award\, and 
 made the first cut in the 59th Annual Grammy Award competition. Val contin
 ues to perform and compose music designed for the 2 to 10-year-old set. As
  a ventriloquist\, Val performs for family and educational events in Maryl
 and\, Washington DC\, Virginia\, Pennsylvania\, Delaware\, New York City\,
  California\, and Brussels\, Belgium. \n\nReservations per show are $5 for
  all ages (adults and children). Children must be accompanied by at least
