Dispose of them safely at the "Drug Take Bac k" to prevent pill abuse and theft. \n\nOfficers from the Alexandria Polic e Department will be collecting unwanted medications at Fire Station 210 f or this local Drug Take Back Day. The Alexandria Police Department and the Alexandria Sheriff's Office\, with cooperation from the Substance Abuse P revention Coalition of Alexandria\, are staffing multiple drop off sites f or Drug Take Back.\n\nDrop off potentially dangerous expired\, unused and unwanted prescription drugs and other medications for safe disposal and de struction. These drugs can be a source of supply for illegal use and an un acceptable risk to public health and safety\, particularly in the case of opioids. \n\nThis initiative addresses a vital public safety and public he alth issue. Many Americans are not aware that medicines that languish in h ome cabinets are highly susceptible to diversion\, misuse and abuse. In addition\, many Americans do not know how to properly dispose of their unused medicin e\, often flushing them down the toilet or throwing them away - both poten tial safety and health hazards. \n\nThis program also supports the goals o f the Eco-City Alexandria initiative to promote a place where people can l ive healthier and economically productive lives while reducing their impac t on the environment. \n\nThe service is free and anonymous\; no questions asked.\n\nLocation: Fire Station 210\nContact Person: PIO Crystal Nosal\ nContact Phone: 703.746.6600\nAudience: Anyone may attend\nTags: APDCalend ar\, Criminal Justice\, Eco-City\, Eisenhower West\, Fire Department\, Hea lth\, Public Safety\, West End\n\nImport this event into your calendar: ht tp://apps.alexandriava.gov/Calendar/iCal.aspx?id=1&si=19280 DTEND:20180728T180000Z DTSTAMP:20180612T132510Z DTSTART:20180728T140000Z LOCATION:Fire Station 210 SEQUENCE:4 STATUS:CONFIRMED SUMMARY:Drug Take Back at Station 210 TRANSP:TRANSPARENT UID:c5fcde11-cccd-43ef-83ac-e1d3248a4b6d X-COA-DTSTAMP:20180612T132510Z END:VEVENT END:VCALENDAR
