 s 18th-century ship so significant? Join us for a seafaring Sunday evening
  lecture by maritime historian Dr. Phillip Reid. Dr. Reid will discuss col
 onial merchant ship technology and how Alexandria's 18th-century ship is c
 ritical evidence in advancing our understanding of maritime history and te
 chnology. Celebrate Virginia Archaeology Month with us by exploring the ch
 allenges and rewards involved in learning more about these vessels. \n\nAd
 mission is $12 per person and $10 for FOAA members. Proceeds benefit the S
 ave our Ship conservation fund. Reservations are required. Tickets may be 
 purchased through the online shop at www.alexandriava.gov/shop. \n\nDr. Re
 id received his PhD with distinction from Memorial University of Newfoundl
 and and his MA in maritime history and nautical archaeology from East Caro
 lina University. His work has appeared or is soon to appear in The Norther
 n Mariner\, the Journal of Transport History\, the International Journal o
 f Maritime History\, and the Mariners' Mirror. Dr. Reid is working on a bo
 ok on the place of the ordinary merchant ship in the history of the Britis
 h Atlantic Empire\, colonial British America\, and the history of maritime
