 's Historic Preservation division is seeking volunteers to assist with an 
 architectural survey of the Old and Historic Alexandria District. This is 
 Phase II of a survey begun in 2014\, which focused on Washington Street. T
 he survey will utilize a GIS-based mobile application designed to expedite
  the surveying process and facilitate data sharing between the City of Ale
 xandria\, the Virginia Department of Historic Resources\, and the National
  Park Service. Surveying will begin in late March\, and Historic Preservat
 ion staff is offering two training sessions on Saturday\, March 18 from 12
 -2 and on Thursday\, March 23 from 6:30-8:30. Some knowledge of architectu
 ral jargon and a facility with smart devices (such as cell phones and tabl
