The walkway recognizes the 100th anniversary of Parker-Gray High Sc hool which opened to students on September 10\, 1920. The walkway\, which consists of the Parker-Gray Bulldog mascot and engraved bricks to honor te achers\, students\, individuals\, families\, houses of worship and the gre ater community\, is located at the main entrance of the Charles Houston Re creation Center (900 Wythe St.) the original site of the Parker-Gray schoo l. The Social R esponsibility Group and the Friends of Douglass Cemetery have dedicated th eir efforts to raise awareness of the significance of the historic African American cemetery and resolve the preservation issues. The City has devel oped plans to implement solutions that are respectful and appropriate to t he sensitive nature of the site. City Staff will present an update on the plans to mitigate the causes of flooding in addition to other preservation updates.\n\nThe meeting will be held at the Lee Center from 6:00-6:45 p.m . NOTE: The meeting will then move to Douglass Cemetery at 6:45 p.m. for a n on-site discussion for participants who would like to visit the site.
