In the event of severe weather\ , the meeting will be canceled. \n\nIn 2018\, archaeologists uncovered the remains of three wooden ship hulls at the Robinson Landing construction s ite. The level of preservation under these modern City blocks wa s astounding - 20th century slab-built structures nearly perfectly encapsu lated entire remains of historic waterfront neighborhoods. This talk will provide an update on the research and preservation of the ships' timbers a nd other archaeological finds. Even as individual features and artifact as semblages\, these finds are highly significant\, but when taken together a long with a wealth of historical documentary data\, a historic maritime la ndscape is taking form.\n\nDr. Eleanor Breen is a historical archaeologist with two decades of experience on sites in the mid-Atlantic region. Dr. Kim Bernard Holien was a professional historian with the U.S. Army for 34 years\, rece iving commendations from the late John Marsh\, Secretary of the Army\, and President Ronald Reagan. He is the recipient of the 2008 Joseph L. Harsh History Award from the Northern Virginia Association of Historians and the co-recipient of the 2016 T. Michael Miller Alexandria History Award from the Alexandria Historical Society. His father served as an Army medical of ficer during the Second World War and took care of many D-Day wounded on t heir return to England\, later serving on President Dwight Eisenhower's Me dical Staff.
