These drugs can be a source of supply for illegal use an d an unacceptable risk to public health and safety\, particularly in the c ase of opioids. \n\nThis initiative addresses a vital public safety and pu blic health issue. Many Americans are not aware that medicines that langui sh in home cabinets are highly susceptible to diversion\, misuse and abuse .
