 re series continues this summer with a presentation entitled\, Legal and 
 Political Aspects of the Civil War by historian Ron Beavers.  As a sevent
 h generation Virginian\, Ron Beavers has had a life-long interest in hist
 ory and railroads. He is especially interested in how both sides used log
 istics and the railroads during the Civil War\, but this illustrated pres
 entation will draw on his vast  knowledge and understanding of the increa
 singly complex  legal and political issues of both the North and South th
 at ultimately erupted into secession and war in 1861.\n\nFor many years\,
  Mr. Beavers has lectured on a wide variety of Civil War subjects to Nort
 hern Virginia audiences and he has often conducted tours of Civil War sit
 es in and around Alexandria and Fairfax County as well as railroad sites 
 in Alexandria\, Fairfax\, Loudoun and Prince William Counties from 2000 t
 o the present. During fall 2006 and winter 2007\, he conducted a course o
 n little known factors that had a major impact on the Civil War for the O
 sher Lifelong Learning Institute at George Mason University (GMU) and the
  American University. He was requested to return to the Learning Institut
 e at GMU for additional talks on Civil War subjects. Later this year he w
 ill be moving to New York State's scenic Finger Lakes region\, and this m
 ay be his last presentation in this area for some time. \n\nThe lecture w
 ill be held on Tuesday\, July 22\, 2014\, at 7:30 p.m. at the historic Ll
 oyd House\, 220 North Washington Street\, Alexandria\, Virginia.  Admissi
 on is free\, and seating is on a first-come\, first-served basis.  There
