 wards funding through a competitive process to organizations providing hu
 man services to Alexandria residents. The AFHS allows the City to support
  human service programs vital to meeting the needs of our community with 
 broadly defined service priorities for young children\, youth\, immigrant
 s\, the elderly and persons with disabilities. AFHS is the umbrella fund 
 that coordinates grants and special initiatives for the Community Partner
 ship Fund and the Children and Youth Fund. Although the funds have differ
 ent priorities and allocations\, together they help ensure that the City'
 s most vulnerable residents will be served. \n\nOnly private non-profit 5
 01(c)(3) organizations are eligible to apply for funding through the AFHS
  Community Partnership Fund. Any organization\, public or private\, for-p
 rofit or non-profit 501(c)(3)\, is eligible to apply for funding through 
 the Children's Priority or Youth Priority. \n\nAttendance is strongly enc
 ouraged\, particularly for first-time applicants.  Advance registration i
