 m and Alexandria Black History Museum.\n\nNasca's presentation will bring
  together archaeological evidence\, historic photographs and soldiers' ac
 counts to tell the story of how\, in 1862\, the physical and social impac
 ts of war transformed life at Ferry Farm\, the plantation where George Wa
 shington lived as a youth.\n\nNasca spent nearly 10 years as an archaeolo
 gist with The George Washington Foundation in Fredericksburg and supervis
 ed the large-scale excavations at Ferry Farm.\n\nHis lecture will also ex
 plore the experience of the enslaved living at Ferry Farm and their event
 ual flight to freedom along with thousands of other Virginia slaves to co
 ntraband camps in Alexandria and the surrounding area. \n\nReservations a
