A discussion with fellow Alexandria nati ve\, Michael Joyner\, will follow the film. Visitors will also have the ch ance to buy Mr. Suggs autobiography\, Da Beast Within Still the Champ\, an d have copies signed by the author. This event is free and open to the pu blic. The doors will open at 6:30 p.m. and the film screening will begin a t 7 p.m..\n\nAnthony Suggs\, Sr. grew up in Alexandria. Suggs punched his way to the top and was the Olympic Festival Gold Medalist which ranked him # 1 in the country and # 4 in the world. In 1987 he was recognized as the man to beat for the 1988 Olympics. While in training for the Olympics he lost his infant daughter to SIDS\, and so did his dream of competing in th e Olympics. Anthony literally hit rock bottom\, his daughter's death destr oyed him spiritually\, emotionally and physically. His chance to box in th e Olympics was derailed by personal tragedy\, followed by drug addiction a nd jail. Mr. Suggs credits his faith as the means for turning his life aro und. He has since dedicated himself to making a positive impact in the com munity\, serving as a motivational speaker\, youth mentor\, and basketball coach. Mr. Suggs has won numerous service awards\, and he continues to be a role model in the community.\n\nMichael Joyner was raised in the Del Ra y neighborhood of Alexandria. After receiving a degree in Fine Arts\, he w ent on to work for The United Way of America and Black Entertainment Telev ision. Mr. Joyner has collaborated with numerous celebrities in the entert ainment industry. He has won several awards\, including the Sony Innovator s Award\, an Emmy Award\, and 2 NAACP Image Awards.
