 ay a significant role in defining the character\, the landscape\, and soci
 al history of the city. Yet\, the alleys are an overlooked asset in city p
 lanning\, development\, and historic research. Many alleys have been demol
 ished for development or incorporated into adjacent lots. The intent of th
 is inventory of public and private alleys was to assist the city in addres
 sing these and other issues and to provide the baseline documentation that
  is needed to effectively manage the historic resources for the future. \n
