  lie behind the closed doors of four of Alexandria's historic sites!  Atti
 cs and Alleys is a three-hour walking tour featuring the rarely seen space
 s of four sites-the Lee-Fendall House\, Gadsby's Tavern Museum\, the Stabl
 er-Leadbeater Apothecary Museum\, and Carlyle House Historic Park-revealin
 g the remnants of stories otherwise hidden.  This behind-the-scenes access
  is in honor of National Preservation Month.  Tickets are limited and adva
 nce reservations are required.    \n\nTours begin at 9 a.m. and ends aroun
 d noon.  Choose from starting at the Lee-Fendall House (614 Oronoco Street
 ) or Gadsby's Tavern Museum (134 N. Royal Street).  Tour includes stairs\,
  access to confined spaces\, and walking over many city blocks\, including
  through alleys.  Walking shoes required\; tour will be held rain or shine

 ers with the Culture Queen!  Jessica Smith\, owner of Culture Kingdom Kids
  has created an interactive program for children and families. Jessica Smi
 th\, Director of Culture Kingdom Kids and a Master Teaching Artist\, will 
 lead participants in learning fun ways to explore African American culture
  through a variety of creative games\, interactive songs\, dances and hand
 s-on crafts. \n\nCulture Kingdom Kids? is an educational arts company that
  produces children's programs that celebrate African-American cultures. Si
 nce 2010\, Culture Kingdom Kids has promoted cultural pride\, heritage and
  awareness values through fun and interactive performances and workshops a
 t schools\, festivals\, community centers and museums. In 2011\, Culture K
 ingdom Kids founder and owner\, Jessica Smith received the Africa Showcase
  Award for Excellence In Children's Cultural Programs for her work with Cu
 lture Kingdom Kids. In 2012\, Smith was recognized as one of the Forty UND
 ER 40 by the Prince George's County Social Innovation Fund for having made
  exceptional contributions in Education through her work with Culture King
 dom Kids?.  Smith has also appeared on Fox 5 News and WRC/NBC and \,in 201
 4\, was invited to Ghana to share her teaching techniques with African edu

 ter's Hill.\n101 Callahan Drive\, on the Grounds of the George Washington 
 National Masonic Memorial.\n\nThe event is presented in three parts\, begi
 nning with an introduction to the history and archaeology of the Shuter's 
 Hill Site\, followed by a site tour\, and finally gathering around the scr
 eens to sift through excavated soil collecting artifacts. The bags of arti
 facts will be sent to the laboratory in the Museum for processing.\n\nAll 
 the necessary equipment will be furnished\, but please wear comfortable cl
 othes\, boots or sturdy shoes (no sandals)\, and bring a water bottle.\n\n
 \nTo accommodate the large demand for the popular Family Dig Day program\,
  the following policy has been established:\n\n\n$5/person. Fee is non-ref
 undable. Space is limited and reservations are required.\n\nIndividuals an
 d families are welcome. Children under sixteen years of age must be accomp
 anied by a participating adult.\n\nUpon receipt of full payment slots are 
 secured and confirmation and additional information will be emailed. \n\nD
