This behind-the-scenes access is in hon or of National Preservation Month and Virginia's Year of the Historic Home \, and tickets are limited. \n\n \n\nTours begin at 9:00 a.m. at the Lee- Fendall House (614 Oronoco Street) and end around noon at Carlyle House (1 21 N. The "We've Been Burned: Alexandria Firefighters During the Civil War" tour w ill explore firefighting during the Union occupation. How were volunteer fire companies treated by Federal authorities? Were firefighters allowed o ut after curfew? What happened to the firehouses and equipment?
