This behind-the-scenes acces s is in honor of National Preservation Month. Tickets are limited and adv ance reservations are required. \n\nTours begin at 9 a.m. and ends arou nd noon. Choose from starting at the Lee-Fendall House (614 Oronoco Stree t) or Gadsby's Tavern Museum (134 N. Royal Street). Ideal volunteers should enjoy meeting and talking with people of all ages\, love American history\ , and want to learn more and share this knowledge with others. Experience speaking/giving presentations a plus\, but not required. The training pr ocess is simple and designed to be flexible to fit the volunteer's schedul e. \n\nThose who cannot attend the May 7 training are still encouraged to apply as alternate arrangements can be made. Volunteer docents are parti cularly needed for weekends\, with occasional weekday shifts also availabl e. Volunteers are asked to give a minimum of 4 hours per month (one tour shift). Other opportunities\, such as leading school tours and weekend sp ecial programs are also available to those who complete the initial traini ng. \n\nThe Stabler-Leadbeater Apothecary Museum in Old Town Alexandria i s noted for its outstanding collection of medicinal herbs\, shop furnishin gs\, and apothecary bottles and equipment. It also has a spectacular colle ction of archival materials\, including journals\, letters and diaries\, p rescription and formula books\, ledgers\, orders and invoices.
