 Thomas Jefferson declared that George Washington was a hard man who was br
 ought up to rule and rule severely. This talk by Dr. Peter Henriques will 
 examine the "tougher" side of George Washington and how this aspect of his
  personality was essential to his remarkable success as a leader. He was n
 ot a man to be trifled with. The talk will also focus on the tension that 
 General Washington felt between justice and mercy and how he sought to res
