Event Details:Join the Alexandria Caen Sister City Committee for a lecture, book-signing and wine/dessert reception featuring noted author and Johns Hopkins University Professor of History Francois Furstenberg. In this recent book, When the United States Spoke French: Five Refugees Who Shaped a Nation Furstenberg tells the fascinating story of five influential French emigres to the fledgling United States, including the notorious Talleyrand, who held posts in the French government both before and after the revolution.

The Alexandria-Caen Sister City Committee is a volunteer committee promoting educational and cultural exchange between the city of Caen in Normandy, France and the city of Alexandria. In addition to hosting a lecture series, the committee also coordinates activities commemorating the anniversary of D-Day, student and intern exchange programs.
