Title:Domestic Violence Program Volunteer Training
Date & Time:Monday, September 10, 2012 • 6:30-9:30 p.m.
Location:See Details

Event Details:Volunteers with our program interact personally with individuals in need--an opportunity that many find extremely fulfilling. Volunteers must attend all volunteer trainings and on the job training. They must adhere to common professional standards regarding client privacy and confidentiality, develop ability to remain calm during a crisis and provide emotional support, information and referrals to victims. You must be able to demonstrate the ability to screen clients over the phone to determine their appropriateness for shelter and provide advocacy and information by telephone to court clients who have been referred to the Domestic Violence Program. You must be available to provide services to the DVP 12 hours per month through shelter coverage on overnight and day shifts during weekends and holidays for a period of at least 1 year and be committed to the program, conscientious about covering shifts, and find a replacement when unable to be on duty for emergency reasons. Discuss with the DVP Volunteer Coordinator any changes in commitment or ability to work regularly scheduled shifts. If you are interested in being a volunteer you must contact Jen Clayton for an interview. The trainings begin on September 10th. The location of the trainings will be given to volunteers after their interview. All volunteers must be over the age of 18.
