    Enforcement of snow emergency routes (which began at 7 a.m. on March 5) will end at 10 a.m. on Friday, March 6.  City offices and facilities will open on a two-hour delay on Friday. The Alexandria Circuit Court, Alexandria General District Court, and Alexandria Juvenile & Domestic Relations District Court will be closed on Friday.

    The Alexandria Sheriff’s Office is seeking re-accreditation by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA).

    During this process, a team of assessors from CALEA will examine aspects of the Office’s policy and procedures, management, operations, and support services related to law enforcement.

    As part of the on-site assessment, the assessors invite community members and agency employees to offer comments at a public meeting on Tuesday, August 21, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., at the Alexandria Courthouse in the Grenadier Room on the lower level.

    Those unable to attend the public meeting, but wishing to provide comment may call the assessment team on Monday, August 20, between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. at 703.746.4395, or mail comments to CALEA, 13575 Heathcote Boulevard, Suite 320, Gainesville, Virginia, 20155.
