Event Details:The ABC awards will recognize City residents, organizations, and businesses and community groups for their efforts in contributing to the beautification of the City of Alexandria. The event, which is open to the public, is intended to celebrate the work of award winners and is a way to say "thank you" to citizens and businesses that take pride in our community. The Commission will hand out awards based on Residential Beautification, Commercial Beautification, Community Beautification, Sustainable Beautification, Excellence in Architecture and Green Practices in Beautification. The ceremony will also feature Mayor Silberberg, City Officials, and a keynote speech by American Horticultural Society President Beth Tuttle. The Alexandria Beautification Commission is a volunteer board approved by the City Council for two-year terms. The Alexandria Beautification Commission promotes beautification of the City through advocacy, education and the celebration of community beautification efforts. Award winners are limited to properties visible from the public right of way. The ceremony is open to the public and will include snacks and coffee.
